About the Mapesbury Clinic
The Mapesbury Clinic for People in Exile offers refugees and asylum seekers culturally and linguistically appropriate counselling and psychotherapy services, advocacy and information. Counsellors are from different cultures and backgrounds, many have been refugees themselves.
Beginnings - Set up in October 2001, the Clinic began on a part-time basis with the support of a multi-cultural group of counsellors. With funds from the Association of London Government and the Big Lottery, the Clinic continues to operate from premises in Queen's Park, North West London and is one of several services provided by the Minster Centre. The Clinic relies on funds and donations to keep going.
The Mapesbury Clinic is one of a number of services and activities provided by The Minster Centre:
- Training in integrative counselling and psychotherapy
- Counselling and Psychotherapy Referral Service
- The Families Without Fear Project works on the problem of domestic violence.
